Privacy Policy

Sadaqah+ is a round-up giving product operated by Human Development Fund ("HDF," "we," "us"), a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 92-2204466) located at 1905 S. Haggerty Rd, Suite 7, Canton, MI 48188. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Sadaqah+, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating a Sadaqah+ account or linking a bank account, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. What Sadaqah+ Does

Sadaqah+ lets you round up your everyday purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to HDF's humanitarian programs. To do this, you voluntarily connect a bank account and authorize us to (a) read your transaction activity to calculate round-up amounts and (b) debit your linked account for the accumulated donation on a recurring basis.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Name, email address, and phone number when you create an account
• Donation preferences, such as round-up settings, caps, and pause settings
• Communications you send us

Financial information, with your consent, via Stripe Financial Connections

When you link a bank account, you do so through Stripe Financial Connections, a service of Stripe, Inc. You authenticate directly with your bank; we never see or store your bank login credentials. With your explicit consent during the linking process, we receive:

• Tokenized account and routing details, used to process your donation debits. We store only a secure token, not your full account number.
• Transaction data (amount, merchant, and date of purchases), used solely to calculate your round-up amounts.
• Balance data, checked before each donation debit to help avoid overdrafts and failed payments.
• Account ownership details (account holder name and address), used to verify that the linked account belongs to you and to prevent fraud.

Information collected automatically

• Device and usage information such as IP address, browser type, and app activity, used for security, troubleshooting, and improving the product.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

• Calculate round-up amounts from your transaction activity
• Process your donations by ACH debit from your linked account
• Verify account ownership and prevent fraud or unauthorized activity
• Check available balance before initiating a debit to reduce failed payments
• Send you donation confirmations, tax receipts, and service communications
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests
• Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations

We do not use your financial data for credit decisions, advertising, or marketing profiles. We do not sell your personal or financial information to anyone.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

• Payment processing. Stripe, Inc. processes bank account linking, verification, and ACH debits on our behalf. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.
• Service providers. We use vetted vendors for cloud hosting, email delivery, and analytics infrastructure. These providers process data only on our instructions and are contractually restricted from using it for any other purpose.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of HDF, our donors, or others.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial information to third parties. We do not share your bank transaction data with any third party for their own use.

5. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

• All Sadaqah+ data, including financial data received through Stripe Financial Connections, is stored on servers located in the United States.
• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to personnel who need it to operate the service.
• We retain transaction data only as long as needed to calculate round-ups, resolve disputes, and meet recordkeeping requirements. Donation records are retained as required by IRS regulations for charitable organizations.
• When you disconnect your bank account or close your Sadaqah+ account, we stop collecting transaction data immediately and delete or de-identify stored financial data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Choices and Rights

• Disconnect anytime. You can unlink your bank account or pause round-ups at any time in the app, which immediately stops both data collection and future debits.
• Access and deletion. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or request its deletion, by contacting us at the address below. We will honor deletion requests except where retention is legally required (for example, records of completed donations).
• Communications. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time. We will still send transactional messages such as donation receipts.
• State privacy rights. Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as defined under these laws. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below.

7. Children

Sadaqah+ is intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it.

8. Donations

All donations made through Sadaqah+ are charitable contributions to Human Development Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Completed donations are final. You will receive receipts for your contributions, and an annual giving summary for tax purposes.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notice before the changes take effect, and we will not expand how we use your financial data without obtaining your renewed consent.
